Eumundi Winery
"Wine is Liquid Sunshine (just avoid sunburn)
Save Water, Drink Wine."
Eumundi Winery was established in 1994 on a 25 acre vineyard just 2K from the famous Eumundi Markets.
Specially selected Mediterranean grape varieties thrive in our red volcanic soils & abundant sunshine & produce soft, full bodied premium wines.
Tannat, { think tannic } is a red grape with a record high content of anti-oxidant polyphenols & is reputed to be a factor in the longevity of men in Gascony, despite their fatty diet.
We have been growing Tannat at Eumundi for 8 years : It makes a delicious , inky-black, tannic wine. { perhaps the fountain of youth.??}
Another " healthy " grape we grow is the French variety, Chambourcin. Because of it's remarkable resistance to disease we never spray the Chambourcin grapes.
From these grapes we produce three " clean & green "wines :- Rouge sparkling, Bo-Jolly & Chambourcin table wine.

All healthy wines at very affordable prices.
We have imported two other "" organic grapes "" which will be released from quarantine in January 2007 & we will release their clean & green wines in 2009. Petit Verdot & Mondeuse are other French grapes we grow that also produce long lived, full-bodied wines because they retain good acidity even when fully ripe. Eumundi Winery made Australia's first Albarino wine in 2004.
Albarino, a Spanish white grape , yields one of the world's best white wines. Our 2007 wine will be available in June.

Other grapes grown are Verdelho, Shiraz, Tempranillo & Refosco. Our sparkling " Strawberry Kiss " is available only in season. We believe in sustainable viticulture ; using disease resistant vines & minimum levels of fungicides such as baking powder & copper. Wine making is by Andrew Hickinbotham a third generation winemaker with degrees from both Australian & French Universities, Andrew combines modern technology with Old World traditional winemaking practices. For example we use much lower levels of preservatives than French winemakers use. We have won awards for our Petit Verdot, Shiraz, Merlot [twice] & Taminga.

Eumundi Winery is normally open 11am to 5pm Wednesday-Sunday for wine tasting , food & BEER. However phone us since we sometimes are busy in the vineyard & may close cellar door. We can cater for small functions or parties. Live music is staged every Sunday during the Dry season. The winery is being extended & these much larger premises will be completed in late 2007 to cater for weddings etc.
I hope to see you there soon.
