Outdoor Entertaining Essentials You Need

So, if high teas or fancy dinner parties aren't your thing, here's a guide to impress your guests and nail a Summer gathering this outdoor entertaining season.

1. Make a statement with wine glasses

You may be the host but in all honesty, the real star of the event is (enter drum roll here) wine. Give wine the treatment it deserves and let guests sip on the royal liquid from some stunning hand painted wine glasses from Art Glass by George.

George has been adding a splash of colour to wine parties since 1998 when he first discovered the unique technique using optical effects and shapes on glassware. Not only do they look divino, each set is colour coded so you never misplace your rosé with someone else’s red.

Next time you’re at the Original Eumundi Markets, see George on the 2nd Railway Ave and stock up on the important things. Your guests (and wine) will be very impressed.

2. Let your wine sit pretty

Call me wine obsessed, or simply a normal functioning adult, but you can’t have a stunning set of wine glasses without an equally gorgeous set of coasters. Jodie Perry is your girl. Her handmade fabric coasters are like a magic rug for wine – stylish, sturdy and a place where dreams come true (aka where wine sits). Ok, maybe I am a tad wine obsessed, but if you saw Jodie’s gorgeous set of bohemian or botanical coasters, you too wouldn’t be waiting until 5 o’clock.

Get lost in Jodie’s bohemian interiors every Saturday on the Lower Terrace at the Original Eumundi Markets.

3. Cut your tucker on an Aussie number

Any foodie loving hipster knows you can’t serve a platter without a wooden chopping board. While the picnic staple is sold at almost every kitchen, home or boutique store around the nation, Australian Cutting Boards are a cut above the rest. These locally handcrafted chopping boards are made from kiln dried Camphor Laurel, a type of timber with anti-fungal and anti-bacterial qualities.  Meaning? Serving your food on one of these bad boys is a lot healthier than whatever wood the supermarket is selling. Plus, all the boards are made in one piece and contain no glue or laminating.

For the kings and queens of condiments, there are even a few boards with dipping holes. Or, if you’re invited to a backyard bash and told to not bring a thing, why not get an Australian Cutting Board engraved as a gift for the host?

Check them out for yourself every Wednesday on 1st Railway Ave and Saturday on Bottom Terrace at the Original Eumundi Markets.

4. Don’t let your outdoor party cost the outdoors

Who would have thought an innocent get together with a few mates could cost the earth? Reduce your landfill and serve your food and drink on recycled glassware. The nature loving creative folk behind Down The Hatch are the ultimate up cyclers, transforming used beer and spirit bottles into all kinds of homely knick-knacks.
